36 Years at Strata Windows | From New Starter to Owner

Strata Windows staff outside the showroom in 1990

Thirty six years ago, a young man wearing a bold tie stood outside Strata’s showroom, ready to begin a new chapter.

Back in 1990, what started as a career move would become something much bigger. Over the next three and a half decades, Strata would become more than just a workplace, it would become a lifelong passion, a second home, and eventually, the business he now proudly leads as its owner.

As Strata celebrates 40 years in business, we’re looking back on one remarkable journey that reflects the values our company has always been built upon: commitment, hard work and putting customers first.

A Career That Started with One Decision

In 1990, our owner joined Strata as a young man at the very beginning of his career. Like many people starting a new job, he couldn’t have imagined where that first step would lead.

Looking back, he describes it as a career move that changed his life. What began as a new opportunity quickly became something much bigger, with Strata growing into more than just a place to work.

Over the years, the business became part of who he was. The lessons learned, the people he met and the customers he helped all played a part in shaping the journey that has led him to where he is today.

Watching Strata Grow

Since those early days, both Strata and the home improvement industry have changed beyond recognition.

From traditional uPVC windows to today’s high-performance glazing, composite doors and aluminium systems, the products may have changed, but Strata’s approach never has. Every improvement has been driven by the same goal: helping homeowners create warmer, safer and more beautiful homes.

For our owner, seeing those changes first-hand has been one of the most rewarding parts of his career. Every challenge has brought new opportunities to learn, improve and help shape the company into what it is today.

“Strata became my lifeblood back then, and it still flows the same today.”

More Than Just a Job

Ask our owner what has kept him at Strata for over three decades, and the answer isn’t just the products or the projects, it’s the people.

From colleagues who became lifelong friends to customers who trusted Strata with their homes, every experience has reinforced the values that have always mattered most: honesty, hard work and taking pride in doing a job properly.

Those values remain at the heart of the business today. While the industry continues to evolve, the commitment to treating customers fairly and delivering quality workmanship has never changed.

A Message for the Next Generation

Looking back on more than three decades with Strata, our owner has one simple message for anyone starting their career:

Give all you can. Own the problem. Impress those that matter.

It’s advice that has guided him throughout his working life. Hard work, commitment and taking responsibility have always been at the heart of his approach, and he firmly believes those qualities open doors, create opportunities and build lasting careers.

As he often says:

“If you work hard, then hard work will look after you… and your family.”

It’s a philosophy that has stood the test of time and continues to shape the culture at Strata today.

Looking Ahead

As Strata celebrates 40 years in business, stories like this remind us that great companies aren’t built overnight. They’re built by people who care, who stay committed and who take pride in what they do every single day.

Thirty-six years after walking through the doors as a young man in a loud tie, our owner remains just as passionate about Strata as he was on day one.

His journey reflects everything Strata stands for: long-term commitment, trusted craftsmanship and putting customers first. It’s a story we’re incredibly proud to share, and one that continues to inspire the next chapter of our business.
